About the SCOA Foundation
| Mission Statement:
Provide a unique training experience for the orthopaedic residents of South Carolina through a coordinated service to the musculoskeletal care needs of the Haitian people while collaboratively elevating the standard of orthopaedic training in Haiti. Vision Statement: Delivering hope for Haiti and a better future for those with musculoskeletal problems through: compassion; continuity of care; training future Haitian orthopaedists; nurturing of the local healthcare system; collaboration with Haitian doctors; respect for local customs and personal integrity. The SCOA Foundation also offers The Robert and Ann Belding Scholarship Program, which supports South Carolina orthopaedic residents and fellows in pursuing high-impact global health experiences that prioritize patient safety, longitudinal care, resident education, and mutual learning with partner institutions.
