About the SCOA Foundation
| Mission Statement:
Provide a unique training experience for the orthopaedic residents of South Carolina through a coordinated service to the musculoskeletal care needs of the Haitian people while collaboratively elevating the standard of orthopaedic training in Haiti. Vision Statement: Delivering hope for Haiti and a better future for those with musculoskeletal problems through: compassion; continuity of care; training future Haitian orthopaedists; nurturing of the local healthcare system; collaboration with Haitian doctors; respect for local customs and personal integrity. Past SCOA Foundation trips and updates are available here. The SCOA Foundation also offers The Robert and Ann Belding Scholarship Program, which supports South Carolina orthopaedic residents and fellows in pursuing high-impact global health experiences that prioritize patient safety, longitudinal care, resident education, and mutual learning with partner institutions.
