ICYMI: Workers Comp Medical Fee Schedule Reform Passed & Signed by Governor

By a vote of 115-0, the SC House concurred in the Senate amendments on H 3874, sending the SCOA backed legislation to the Governor's desk. SCOA supported the minor amendments adopted in the Senate.

H 3874 gives the Workers Compensation Commission greater flexibility to make needed adjustments to the medical fee schedule without triggering appeals to the Administrative Law Court. SC ranks in the bottom of states with fee schedules, and medical providers in workers comp are paid less than providers in our neighboring states. Workers Compensation Commission Chairman Scott Beck testified in favor of H 3874.

For the record, the three roll call votes in the House and Senate were 111-0, 45-0 and 115-0. In hindsight that might make it look easy, but our SCOA leaders participated in two years of groundwork and educating that went into this success and brought potential opponents to the table.
